February 2019 Minutes

Geneseo Community Main Street 2/21/2019 @ Big Tree Inn

Present: Beth/Liv Cty Chamber, Julie/Howard Hanna, Grayce & Jennifer/Touch of Grayce, Penny/Bank of Castile, Sandi/Not Dot, Mary Kay/Geneseo Welcome Center, Jonna/ CSA-Big Tree, William Grady/CSA-Big Tree

1] Treasurer’s report: January treasurer’s report. Lora will no longer be treasurer. Sandi moved, Penny seconded to give a gift certificate to Lora. Penny has offered to become treasurer.

2] Chocofrolic: Sandi stated that Not Dot went well. William reported positive responses from those he saw. Grayce said they had good flow. The actual head count was around 250. The college will pay for the 300 tickets they gave out in the Siblings Weekend package. Grayce discussed possibly moving up the start time to 11 am, and ending at 3. Because the Chocofrolic is part of the package

there will be a certain amount of no-shows. We agreed that we should do it again next year, possibly connecting to the Siblings Weekend event coordinators earlier.

3] Membership: Will need to table until we know Julie Meyers’ situation. Need to develop yearly schedule of events

4] May Day Sip & Stoll. We need to begin planning. Grayce reports that Jennifer will be sending out a request to local cideries, breweries, and wineries. Grayce has been in touch with Craig’s Creamery in York to participate, and East Hill Creamery in East Hill. Grayce asked for ideas for local food. Mary Kay mentioned Neil from Royaltees has a connection to Josh Cellars, which is featured at The Big Tree. Josh worked at the Big Tree. Joseph’s Cellers also has a Geneseo connection. If producers have an off-site selling permit, they can sell product at the Sip & Stroll. We are hoping to get artists and live music. Hours from 5 to 8. Businesses will be encouraged to put out some food. Penny, Beth, Sandi, Grayce, Grady & Julie volunteered for the committee.

First meeting Wednesday, March 6 at 8:30 am at Tompkins Bank.

Part of proceed to go to local charity.

5] Intern: Allie is a senior. We have one more event with her. She asked about being paid.

Grayce suggested paying a set amount, not an hourly wage. Will talk with Louise about looking for an intern, hopefully a Junior, when Louise returns. We need someone for Main Street Bash in August?

6] Miscellaneous: Summer Festival weekend – no vendors on street, promote Sidewalk Sales. If vendors call, we can refer them to Steve at Rotary. Question: do we want to do the Teddy Bear Scavanger Hunt? – will address later.

Web Site: Jennifer has begun, Ruth Ann connected Square.

Thanks to Beth for keeping up Facebook.

7] Next general meeting: March 20, 8:30 at the Big Tree
